Use “Pretend…”

Many people have more success with their chatbots when they use the “act as if…” prompt. This allows your chatbot to put itself in a more specific situation and respond in a way that is specific to your situation. Be specific about what you need help with

If you address your chatbot and tell it exactly what you need help with, it can respond accordingly. It's kind of a “help me help you” situation. For example, I could have told my ChatPT, “I'm starting a small business. Can you make a plan?” That could have gotten an answer; However, the answer may not have been that specific.

The more details you give your chatbot, the better its response will be. You can also rephrase your question until you're satisfied, and it may take a few tries to get it right. You can also use the “Pretend…” method to help. This is how I rephrased my question:

You are an expert in business planning. I design custom skateboards and I want to start a small business. Can you write me a one year plan and give me a set of steps to follow in detail?

“Tell me what else you need to do”

Also, to make things even more personal and get the best results, you can invite the bot to request more information.

Let's imagine, for example, that you would like a wellness consultation tailored to your individual needs. Can you ask the bot for more information? You might say, “I need wellness advice tailored to my specific situation.” Tell me what else you need to do to do that?' The bot may then ask you a series of questions about your lifestyle, exercise routines, diet preferences, medical history, and wellness goals, so the advice is personalized to your needs.

Remember: If the first few answers don't fully address your concerns, don't worry. Ask for better suggestions and the bot will do its best to improve the results. Be patient and forgiving and you are more likely to receive valuable and personalized health advice.

Enter the length of your answer

Sometimes, when a chatbot is answering a question that requires a particularly long answer, it may abort the answer or not allow itself to provide the best answer. If you think your question might require a longer answer, give your chatbot a word limit.

For example, you could ask your chatbot to “tell me about the key topics in”. Great expectations by Charles Dickens.” However, as this is a book that has been studied and analyzed thousands of times, the answer could be quite lengthy. Instead, you could ask, “In 200 words or less, can you explain the key issues to me?” In Great expectations by Charles Dickens?”

If you need to ask your chatbot something and it answers you correctly, you can move on. If you have additional questions on the same topic you already asked about, you can continue with the same chat request. However, sometimes going on for too long can cause a chatbot to become confused and deviate from the conversation. Some chatbots like Bing have limits on how long you can stay on the same topic anyway. However, staying within this limit can sometimes be overwhelming.

Your chatbot should have a refresh button that you can click if you want to start the conversation over.
