Newswise – The International Alliance for Phytobiome Research is pleased to announce this Mosaic Life Sciences™ has joined the organization as a sponsorship partner.

The Phytobiomes Alliance is a non-profit research consortium that promotes and coordinates national and international research projects on phytobiomes to accelerate the sustainable production of food, feed and fiber for all. The term “phytobiome” refers to a plant growing in a specific environment (a biome) and all the geophysical and biological components that interact with that plant.

Mosaic Biosciences is a global biologics platform from The Mosaic Company that brings the latest insights and innovations in biologics science to the agricultural market. Building on Mosaic’s strong plant nutrition portfolio, Mosaic Biosciences offers a portfolio of biological products that protect and promote plant growth while supporting the critical microbiome responsible for plant health and resilience.

“We are pleased to have one of the leading plant nutrition companies in the Phytobiomes Alliance,” said Kellye Eversole, executive director of the alliance. “Mosaic Company’s Biosciences platform adds a portfolio of biological products that complement their traditional plant nutrition. With fertilizer products responsible for 50% of crop yields, their expertise in potash, phosphorus and biological nutrients will add an important dimension to the alliance.”

Jennifer Lilly, Director of Regulatory at Mosaic Biosciences, joined the Alliance Coordinating Committee. This committee identifies research, resource and technology gaps, sets priorities and develops strategic plans to achieve the Alliance’s goals. Lilly also joined the Alliance’s Regulatory Working Group, which focuses on assessing regulatory barriers to new microbial technologies and supporting the development of a science- and risk-based regulatory framework for new technologies.

“We are pleased that Mosaic Biosciences is represented at the Phytobiomes Alliance,” said Lilly. “As a global leader in plant nutrition, sustainable food production is one of our top priorities. We know that a better understanding of what plants need to support their phytobiome and achieve optimal yields is critical to a sustainable future. We look forward to learning and sharing more as we work with others involved in the Phytobiomes Alliance.”

Over the next few decades, understanding entire phytobiome systems will be critical to achieving sustainable global food security in the context of population growth, climate change, and the need to conserve biodiversity and natural resources while maintaining or increasing farmer profitability guarantee. The Phytobiomes Alliance is working to address these challenges by creating a knowledge base about how phytobiome components interact and influence each other.

Agricultural stakeholders and scientists from academia and private companies will meet from October 8th to 10th, 2024 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, for the International Phytobiomes Conference – an event organized by the Phytobiomes Alliance – to present their research and network and share their experiences and expertise to jointly advance knowledge in the field of phytobiome science. The three-day event offers scientists from various disciplines the opportunity to come together to develop collaborations and provide an overview of the innovative science and research currently underway in the field of phytobiomes.

About the Phytobiome Alliance

The Phytobiomes Alliance is an international, non-profit alliance of partners from industry, academia and government, founded in 2016.
