Biden and Trump win in Ohio, while Moreno is nominated for the state Senate nomination

“I am honored and humbled by the thousands of Ohioans who stood with me in this campaign. Although this is not my time to run for the U.S. Senate as our party’s candidate, I am deeply grateful to those who supported me.

“Many people have warned me against entering into a contest with a powerful, incumbent incumbent and two wealthy self-funders. They said I would be unfairly attacked if I did not have the resources to defend my career and that this would damage my personal and political reputation. Those opinions simply weren’t as important to me as the gravity of this moment in our nation’s history. I knew from the beginning that we had to save a country, and I will always fight for America.

“I have never been one to shy away from a challenge. My faith taught me conviction; the army taught me courage; and my daughters inspire me every day to care deeply about the future of our country.

“While our faces are politically marred by dust, sweat and blood, I believe with Teddy Roosevelt that if we fail, we fail at the worst, though we have great courage, so that our place will never be with these cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat. I look forward to future victories, starting with electing a Senate majority in November that will work with President Trump to Make America Great Again.

Ohio Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown said November’s Senate race “might be my toughest race.”
